Covid-19 Coronavirus Update
The Clubhouse is currently closed for the duration of the National Lockdown (November 2020) and because Charnwood Borough is in Tier 2 of the Coronavirus local restrictions. Please check back here in December for an update. In the meantime we meet for a Virtual Clubnight at 7.30pm onwards - details of the link have been sent to members by e-mail. This is a good chance to catch up with members' projects and answer technical questions.
Prior to the November lockdown, the club was visited by an advisor from Charnwood Borough Council who approved all the measures we had taken to ensure we had a Covid-secure environment. See below for details of the September re-opening arrangements, which we expect to continue when Charnwood returns to a Tier 1 level.
September 2020 re-opening arrangements
The LMRG Committee has decided, following completion of a comprehensive Risk Assessment and the work required to make the Club premises a "Covid-19 Secure" working area, to restart meetings on Wednesday evening 2nd September 2020 at 7 pm to 10 pm and then on Monday & Wednesday mornings as well - provided that there are no further restrictions placed on meetings by the Government or Local Authorities.
FROM MONDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2020, TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW AND AVOID A £100 FINE, THERE WILL BE A LIMIT OF 6 PEOPLE PERMITTED TO ATTEND FROM EACH MODELLING GAUGE TO BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE WITH THE LAYOUT LEADER. PLEASE REFER QUESTIONS TO ANY COMMITTEE MEMBER OR E-MAIL VIA THE "CONTACT US" FORM.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS WILL CONTINUE ON ZOOM TO ALLOW FOR MODEL RAILWAY DISCUSSION AND QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR THOSE WHO ARE ISOLATING / SHIELDING - FROM 7.30 pm onwards.
There is a new one-way system for entering and leaving the premises, with the entrance now through the large workshop, and exit through the former entrance. Members and visitors will be required to sign in, recording contact details and forehead temperature, and their signature to agree to follow the requirements of the Risk Assessment on their first and subsequent visits. Facemasks must be worn, and good hand hygiene must be practiced throughout each visit - hand sanitisers have been installed in several places. Cleaning is undertaken after Monday and Wednesday morning visits.
Copies of the Risk Assessment have been e-mailed or posted to each Member in preparation for the first meeting. You can also read a copy here
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the safety of everyone coming to the site, please note that the risks cannot be eliminated entirely and if someone tests positive for Coronavirus Covid-19 after meeting at the club, all who met on that day may be asked by the Track and Trace System to self-isolate for 14 days. If you cannot afford to be quarantined for this period of time, or if you have underlying health problems it is best not to attend until a vaccine has been approved. If you have already paid your 2020 Membership fees but cannot visit this year, please discuss your options with our Treasurer (please contact via the "Contact us" page).
Please keep in touch with this website for further details. Thank you.
